OLLI’s “Creating a Garden Good for the Planet & You” three-session class was featured in the Resident Community Newspaper for the December 2016 issue, titled, “Local park serves as classroom for learning institute”! We are so happy to have our OLLI adventures recognized in our local community!
Here is a snip-it of the Resident Community newspaper article, written by Julie Kerns Garmendia, on how OLLI members and instructors learned from and interacted with the Native Park:
“The class was designed to boost knowledge about native plants, shrubs and trees and to highlight the importance of protecting, attracting and nourishing wildlife, bird and insect pollinators, which are responsible for pollinating one third of our food supply. The class met at the quarter-acre, triangular-shaped Native Park located at 3312 Park St. between Avondale Avenue and Belvedere Streets.”
